Pepsi controversy

While on the topic of the Dove ad, it made me start thinking about the past Pepsi commercial that was released this past April. The ad was first mocked when the commercial was placed in a protest of some kind, when Kendal Jenner joins the protest in the commercial she goes up to one of the Police men and offers him a Pepsi. When the Officer takes the Pepsi, everyone cheers and becomes united. The full commercial is in the link below:

This Ad was derived from the many Black Lives Matter protests so many people who were involved said that a black person should have handed the cop a Pepsi or that the whole thing is completely wrong and rude towards people who are going against the officers.

Pepsi, after the uproar, tweeted “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the beverage company said in a statement. “Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”

Personally, I do not see the wrong in the Ad. When I think of Pepsi, I think of their many commercials of share a Pepsi, share the love, share the memories, and many others. In this commercial they are continuing that trend but also trying to share peace along with the Pepsi.
